BOTH
Reflexión by the Tired One
We can both be blessed and stressed, or depressed. Two things can be true at the same time.
In the past few weeks, I shared the stage with Brené Brown, taught a transformational 90-minute workshop in Hawaii, and graduated from a Cornell University program in Women Entrepreneurship. I also confirmed 3 new speaking engagements, including speaking at a High School Graduation!
In the past few weeks, over two hundred people in my country died. I have struggled with stomach pain and throwing up daily, my daughter was hospitalized, and I’ve felt very depressed - all while working on my taxes - ugh.
We can hold many emotions simultaneously, and that needs to be normalized.
As I struggle to sleep and function with my heart bleeding and my stomach aching, I am striving to turn off the noise and hold on tight to the people who are supporting me and celebrating me, paying close attention.
Yesterday, I had a meeting with a very dear client and friend, and I felt blessed.
Congratulations on completing Cornell!
How are the girls?
How is your brother?
How did your speaking engagements go?
How do YOU feel?
I don’t get asked those questions a lot. Not really. Depressing.
But maybe that’s why they make such a difference when someone genuinely cares. Blessing.
I’m tired, overwhelmed, and in pain, but I’m a single mom, taking care of it all. Stressing.
Yes, we feel so much. Let’s give ourselves permission to feel each and every emotion and give voice to every part of ourselves. It’s all part of the whole - and wholeness is the goal.

I hope you and your sweet daughter will be well very soon, Elayna!
I’m sending you so many hugs. This is so, so much to carry, especially when you are so sick.
I’m saying prayers that your load is lighter every day.
I pray that more people read your words and realize that even strong, smiling people (and especially strong, smiling people) are battling situations too big to put into words that ask for help.
I pray that your daughter is okay and out of the hospital and that both of you have your health fully restored.
Hugs and prayers for you and your loved ones 🙏💜
